72.2 Gram Natural Gold Nugget Specs

Ganes Creek, located about 25–30 miles west of McGrath in Alaska’s Innoko district, has a storied history as one of the state’s richest placer gold streams. Gold was first discovered there during the winter of 1906–1907 by Thomas Ganes and associates. The creek is particularly famous for producing some of Alaska’s largest nuggets, up to 122 ounces, including several other specimens over 20 ounces.

This natural gold nugget weighs 72.2 grams, about 2 1/3 troy ounces. It is almost 1 3/4″ tall, about 1/2″ thick, and just over 1″ wide. This nugget comes with a certification book and map showing when and where the gold was found.
