Polar Bear Claws Capped with Baleen and Ivory
Polar bear claws with baleen and walrus ivory caps. We just received some small and medium size claws from our carver. The small are about 2.75″ and the medium are about 3.25 inches tall. They are made by Alaska Native artist Adam Tooyak. Adams father is a whaling captain in Point Hope, Alaska where he hunts bowhead whales and polar bears. Native Alaskans hunt these animals for food and use other parts of the animals like the baleen, claws and furs for artistic crafts and jewelry.
