Polar Bear Claws Capped with Baleen and Ivory
Polar bear claws with baleen and walrus ivory caps. We just received some medium and large size claws from our carvers. The medium are about 2.75″ and the large are about 3.25 inches tall. They are made by Alaska Native artists in Point Hope, Alaska which is up near the very top of our state. Native Alaskans hunt bowhead whales and polar bears for food and use other parts of the animals like the baleen, claws and furs for artistic crafts and jewelry. Due to the changing weather and shifting sea ice, Polar Bears have been harder to find this hunting season.
