Totemic Orca Whale Medallion
Tlingit art is an important part of Alaska’s cultural heritage. Tlingit art is made in a variety of forms, including totem poles, masks, jewelry, and woven baskets. Many Tlingit artists continue to create and showcase their work in galleries and museums throughout Alaska. It is not only visually stunning but also a symbol of the culture, history, and traditions of the Tlingit people.
The Totemic Orca Whale Medallion design is another collaboration between designer Gunnar Robuck and artist Steffani Coxwell. Steffani is a Tsimshian Alaska Native artist that lives in Soldotna, AK. on the Kenai Peninsula. This coin features the orca, or killer whale, called kéet in the Tlingit language. We mint it in golden bronze, pure copper, 1 ounce .999 fine silver, 1 oz single gold relief (24k plating on part of the silver coin) and 1 oz double gold relief (24k gold plating on both sides). It is similar in size to a silver dollar. Packaged in an airtight container and handsome gift box. The reverse of this coin features our popular “Land of Midnight Sun” design.
