This medallion features an F-22 Raptor flying over Mt. Gilbert in the Chugach range near Anchorage, Alaska. The F-22’s have stealth camouflage, and in Alaska, the Air Force tail markings have AK on them with the squadron number beneath.

The F-22 is a critical component of the Global Strike Task Force based at JBER in Anchorage, AK. A combination of sensor capability, integrated avionics, situational awareness, and weapons provides first-kill opportunity against threats. The F-22 possesses a sophisticated sensor suite allowing the pilot to track, identify, shoot, and kill air-to-air and cruise-missile threats.  It’s a testament to the strategic positioning and readiness of Alaska-based forces.

Die sculptor, Tom Rogers, has been designing and sculpting plaster models for 46 years.  Ten of those, from 1991 to 2001, was spent as a U.S. Mint Sculptor / Engraver.  Tom has a unique style when making his designs. He carves his work backwards into the plaster and then pours the final master cast  into the negative. He than opens and finalizes the detail.

It is available in golden bronze, 1 ounce .999 fine silver, 1 oz single gold relief (24k plating on front of the silver coin) and 1 oz double gold relief (24k gold plating on both sides). They are similar in size to a silver dollar and packaged in an airtight container and handsome gift box. The reverse is our Land of the Midnight Sun design.
