Tlingit art is an important part of Alaska’s cultural heritage. The Tlingit people are an indigenous group that has lived in the region for thousands of years and are known for their rich artistic traditions. Tlingit art is characterized by intricate designs and bold, vibrant colors, often featuring depictions of animals, mythical creatures, and human figures. Tlingit art can be seen in a variety of forms, including totem poles, masks, jewelry, and woven baskets. Many Tlingit artists continue to create and showcase their work in galleries and museums throughout Alaska and beyond. Tlingit art is not only visually stunning but also a symbol of the culture, history, and traditions of the Tlingit people.

Raven was a shape changer, who could assume any form, human or animal. Raven was a glutton and trickster, but he showed pity for the naked people he found in a giant clamshell. His trickery brought them the essentials for existence in a harsh world – game and fish and fowl, fire, clothing, shelter – and with them the rituals that would protect them from the dark spirits lurking about. This medallion is minted in golden bronze, pure copper, 1 oz .999 fine silver, 1 oz single gold relief (24k plating on the front of the silver coin) and 1 oz double gold relief (24k gold plating on both sides). The 1 oz medallion is similar in size to a silver dollar. They are packaged in an airtight container and handsome gift box. The reverse features our popular “Land of the Midnight Sun” design.
