Natural Gold & Quartz Specimen Specs
This beautiful 6.6 gram natural gold & quartz specimen was found in the goldfields of Australia by some friends of ours using their metal detectors. They search for gold in the southern U.S. in the winter and Australia in the summer.
This natural gold & quartz specimen weighs 6.6 grams, It is just under 3/4″ wide and about 1″ tall. Gold has a specific gravity of 19.32 and quartz is 2.65, that is why the quartz area looks much larger but the gold is very heavy by comparison.

Most of our nuggets are between 70% to 95% pure gold. Furthermore, natural gold has other metals mixed with it, including silver and platinum. You can request nuggets from different areas of the state and will notice that the color and texture varies from mine to mine. We weigh our nuggets in pennyweight (DWT), where 1 pennyweight equals 1.55 grams, and 20 pennyweights equal 1 troy ounce.
