Natural Gold Nugget Specs
This beautiful 101.0 gram natural gold nugget was mined in Atlin B.C. this past summer (2022). Gold was first discovered in the Atlin district in the 1850’s. Atlin earned the nickname ‘Switzerland of the North’ due to its rugged mountains and stunning vistas. The remote location and difficult terrain made many sections of British Columbia rather hostile towards the mining of gold. The area comprising Northern British Columbia, the Yukon Territory, and Alaska collectively earned the name “The Klondike.”
This natural gold nugget weighs 65.0 dwt/101.0 grams (3 1/4 troy ounces). It is just under 2″ tall and about 1 1/4″ wide.

Most of our nuggets are between 70% to 95% pure gold. Furthermore, natural gold has other metals mixed with it, including silver and platinum. You can request nuggets from different areas of the state and will notice that the color and texture varies from mine to mine. We weigh our nuggets in pennyweight (DWT), where 1 pennyweight equals 1.55 grams, and 20 pennyweights equal 1 troy ounce.
