Bald eagles are a common and majestic sight in Alaska. The state is home to the largest population of bald eagles in the United States, with an estimated 30,000 individuals. These iconic birds of prey can be spotted throughout Alaska, soaring high in the sky or perched on tree branches and cliffs. Bald eagles are attracted to Alaska’s abundance of fish, which they catch using their sharp talons and powerful beaks. They also mate and nest in the state’s lush forests and along its rugged coastlines.
These medallions are minted in golden bronze, 1 oz .999 fine silver, 1 oz single gold relief (24k plating on the front of the silver coin) and 1 oz double gold relief (24k gold plating on both sides).
