This beautiful natural gold nugget was mined in Atlin B.C. this past summer. Nicknamed “Switzerland of the North” because of the rugged mountains and beautiful vistas, gold was first discovered in the Atlin district in the 1850’s. The remote location and difficult terrain made many sections of British Columbia rather hostile towards the mining of gold. The area that includes Northern British Columbia, the Yukon Territory, and Alaska was collectively known as “The Klondike.” When several larger nuggets like this are found in an area, miners sometimes refer to it as a potato patch!
This natural gold nugget weighs 53.0 dwt /82.4 grams (over 2.5 troy ounces) It is 1.75″ long 1″ wide and over 1/2″ thick. This nugget comes with a certification book and map showing when and where the gold was found.

Natural gold has other metals mixed with it, including silver and platinum.
Most of our nuggets are between 70% to 95% pure gold. You can request nuggets from different areas of the state and will notice that the color and texture varies from mine to mine. Our certified nuggets start at $50.00 and go up to several thousand dollars depending on the nugget size and the market price of gold. Our nuggets are weighed in pennyweight (DWT) 1 pennyweight equals 1.55 grams, 20 pennyweights equal 1 troy ounce. We negotiate with the miners to get the best price possible, but because of their rarity, natural nuggets sell for more than the daily price of gold, in fact, the larger the nugget, the more per ounce it can cost.
